Blessings and Thanks

Unlike our 2008 "Coast to Coast" walk across northern England, we did not pick up a stone at the beach on the West Coast and carry it across to be deposited on the East Coast. Of course, one practical reason for this is that Barnstaple is on a river near but not at the sea. But another more meaningful reason is that we are carrying the blessings of so many people with us. From the blessing of our employer, Trinity Western University (particularly the library and human resources department which recognized how important this was to Ken and were willing to grant him a leave of absence only five months after starting a new full time job), to the blessings of all the friends, family and others who have wished us well, to the blessing that Sara's brother's church (unknowingly) gave us in the process of a church service the Sunday before we left, to the blessings of our own church, our small groups, and especially via our pastor, Phil Wheaton, who prayed for us the morning we left, and finally to the blessing that Rev. Simon May, vicar of Trinity Church, Barnstaple, who didn't know us but was willing to meet with us and pray for us the morning of our first day of walking--all these blessings we carry with us on our journey. We are both so thankful for all these blessings that go on and on and on.

So we will walk on, giving thanks for life, renewed health, and so many blessings, innumerable to count but tangible all the same.

Thanks be to God, and for you all. Celebrating blessings in via...
